What We Do

BAA is a woman-owned, engineering and management consultancy and staff support small business firm having core competencies in:

  • engineering;
  • quality assurance;
  • nuclear regulation and licensing; 
  • design control and configuration management;
  • scientific and engineering evaluations and analyses;
  • operational readiness planning and assessment;
  • management analysis, audits, and inspections of nuclear research facilities, defense facilities, nuclear power plants and nuclear industry organizations with emphasis on safety;
  • analysis and related mathematical modeling of seismic mechanical damage,  hydrologic and geochemical processes; and
  • technical and fiscal management of engineering and scientific programs

The company, begun in 1985, has provided services to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, U.S. Department of Energy and its M&O contractors, numerous nuclear utilities, and other large and small firms providing engineering, quality, training, manufacturing, and similar services.

  • Our principals and staff have performed over 180 audits, inspections and license review tasks for NRC over seven years as a prime contractor and eighteen years as a subcontractor. 
  • We have supported DOE since 1988 for projects at Y-12, ORNL, INEL, Rocky Flats, and Yucca Mountain in both leadership and staff roles for reactor and defense program facility restart evaluations; reactor outage management, nuclear safety reviews and evaluations, establishment and improvement of design, quality, facility maintenance and testing, and information technology and enterprise management programs; and NRC licensing of DOE facilities. 
  • Our utility experience includes executive and staff level support to NRC watch list plant recoveries; utility business plan development, development and implementation of quality, design engineering, maintenance, and training programs, development and delivery of assessment skills.   • Engineering, quality assurance, nuclear licensing, and regulatory affairs support have been provided to spent nuclear fuel storage and disposal projects including extensive support to the previous and current Yucca Mountain M&O contractor where the company is filling numerous management positions in regulatory affairs and licensing and providing engineers and scientists in key staff roles.
  • Information technology support and developmental capabilities have been provided to DOE projects including state of the art computer software quality program development and implementation such as the  Capability Maturity Model and NQA-1000-2004 software development processes, IT infrastructure management and system support for scientific, engineering, and safety analysis modeling, and enterprise management systems.
