Seniors also led the Student Council with David Roach as president,
Beth Harner as recording secretary, Rebecca Batchelor as corresponding
secretary, Janet Dickert as treasurer, Charlotte Sauls as chaplain,
and Judy McDonald as parliamentarian. Captain of the football team was
Ronnie Adcox, while Connie Cooper was Brainerd's first Homecoming Queen.
Brainerd also proved her academic excellence with her six Merit Scholarship
Finalists: Judy McDonald, Alvin Blumberg, Pam Brown, Dennis Kinch, Cheryl Grant,
and Claire Lander. Sherry Landrum starred in Brainerd's second musical,
"Calamity Jane", and had the female lead opposite Jack Riggins in the
"The Man Who Came to Dinner". Senior superlatives, chosen early this spring,
were: Anna Dalton and Frank VanderVoort, Friendliest; Carol Kerns and Jack Riggins,
Wittiest; Sherry Landrum and Roger Israelson, Most Talented; Martha Johnson
and Ronnie Adcox, Most Athletic; Cheryl Grant and Alvin Blumberg, Most Likely
to Succeed; Connie Cooper and Randy Faulkner, Most Attractive; Janet Dickert
and David Roach, Most Dependable; and Beth Harner and Frank Griscom, Most
Representative. Mr. and Miss Brainerd, Perry Pollard and Beth Harner,
were presented on Class Day. Our last Junior-Senior Prom was held a few days
ago; and Baccalaureate, too, is past. Now we await Graduation, and then we
shall step from our threshold into a new life.
The future will bring something different for each of us. It may bring joy or
sorrow, happiness or hardships. But no matter what it brings, we may be sure that
there could not have been a sounder foundation laid for our future lives than we
have received here at Brainerd.
